SIEF2015 12th Congress: Zagreb, Croatia
21-25 June 2015
Call for funding applications
Through the generous award of €17,377 from the Wenner-Gren Foundation, SIEF is able to allocate support funds to help with delegate attendance.
The rules and criteria are straightforward:
- ALL applications must be submitted via the online form.
- You should not seek 'double-funding'. Our aim is to support those who have partial funding or no funding at all.
- We envisage funding registration fees for successful applicants; however in exceptional cases we may also contribute towards accommodation and/or travel costs, but NOT Membership subscriptions.
- Priority will be given to those coming from poorer economies, early-career academics and students, as well as those convening a panel or presenting a paper. All these things being equal, long-term SIEF members will be given priority.
- Funding will be prioritised for those planning to register for (and attend) the full conference, rather than those registering for (and attending) individual days.
- Due to the location of this year’s conference and competition for these resources, we are unable to fund delegates/full academic colleagues from the richer economies of Western Europe. However students from any country may apply.
- Please keep your 'other information' concise. Details about your paper, how important this conference is to your career, etc. are not helpful. Keep to facts regarding alternate sources of funding, etc.
- If you make a mistake, please do not resubmit, but email congress(at)siefhome.org.
- Deadline: 16th March
We will endeavour to make and communicate decisions by the 28th March. Funding will either be allocated as a registration fee waiver in our system, or remitted to recipients' bank accounts on receipt of electronic receipts for travel and accommodation. If a delegate does not attend the conference for whatever reason (accident, family emergency, visa restriction, etc), they will be expected to return the full sum. If receipts are not submitted, funding is forfeit. These are the conditions accepted in applying for the funds.
The last two congresses received between two and four times more applications than we could possibly assist. With the continued economic downturn and deterioration in institutional funding, we envisage competition will be huge. Applications have greater chance of success if the amount requested is low or just for registration fee waivers, as we would like to help as many delegates as possible.
