SIEF2021 15th Congress

Helsinki, Finland
21-24 June 2021

Breaking the rules? Power, participation, transgression

The 15th international SIEF congress will take you to Helsinki, a vibrant city by the Baltic Sea with an Arctic twist. Helsinki is known for its laid-back and safe atmosphere, its internationality and open-mindedness, and the proximity of urban culture and mesmerising nature. The congress will be hosted by the University of Helsinki, Finland’s largest and oldest academic institution (est. 1640). With the theme Breaking the rules? Power, participation and transgression, we invite and encourage participants to explore the dynamics, modes, arenas and implications of breaking the rules and to revisit and discuss underlying concepts.

The Call for Panels has closed and the proposers have all been notified. The Call for Papers will open on 23 October. Meanwhile please read the theme, then go to the Call for Panels etc page to read all about the formats, rules and instructions.

Please note that due to the unpredictable situation regarding COVID-19, the SIEF2021 Scientific Committee has decided to hold the congress fully online. While we are all deeply saddened by not being able to meet in Helsinki, we are sure that the congress will be one to remember: with spectacular keynotes, innovative (rule-breaking?!) events and the opportunity to experience the Arctic atmosphere through a unique music programme - online in Helsinki.
