Working Group on Historical Approaches in Cultural Analysis (HACA) and Working Group on Cultural Heritage and Property

The two working groups announce their joint conference in May 2026.

The Historical Approaches in Cultural Analysis (HACA) and Cultural Heritage and Property (CHP) working groups, together with IDEAS Institute for Ethnology and Social Anthropology of Aix-en-Provence, will be co-sponsoring a joint working group interim meeting and conference, to be held in Aix-en-Provence in late May 2026. The conference will engage historically informed critical perspectives on how folklore, Indigenous and popular culture(s) and knowledge have been shaped and operationalized by circulating through multiple institutional entities. Attendees will be able to participate in person or online. The conference might include a field visit to the Salagon Abbey Ethnobotany Research Center and a meeting with local associations involved in heritage and ethnology.
